Places to eat

There are several good places to eat in Charlotteville village just a short walk from the White House. They are run by friendly village people who are friends of ours.

Gail’s Restaurant – excellent food and very friendly place open every evening except Sunday.

Sharon and Phebs Restaurant – Excellent food and friendly – run by our next door neighbours. They have probably the best prawns in Tobago. Open all day every day (except some Sundays). You can go here just for a drink or a delicious meal.

Quality Kitchen in the middle of the beach in Charlotteville. Run by Kosa and his son Jerome. Good lunches and dinners. Inexpensive. Rustic environment. Closed from Friday evening until they reopen on Saturday evening. They don’t sell alcoholic drinks but don’t mind you bringing your own.

Lyda’s Bar – run by Lyda, a remarkable lady. Drinks every day.

On Friday lunchtimes you can get delicious Buss up shut – an open roti at about 11am. Lyda will also cook Buss up shut or other delicious meals at other times by arrangement.

G’s,  opposite Sharon and Phebs. The food is inexpensive and it’s good for a drink.

Jabba just opposite the jetty usually has delicious rotis during the day and occasionally cooks traditional meals at other times. You can also sit in his hut and enjoy a cold beer.

Michelle Jack will cook you a typical delicious Tobagonian meal in her home by prior arrangement. You eat on her terrace which hangs over the Caribbean sea. Ask for Michelle in the village or phone 660 5206
